| CIPP 907 | Research Ethics Credits: 1
Course Master: Adam Puche, PhD Various aspects of research ethics will be examined, including data collection and ownership, issues in the use of human and animal subjects, responsibilities of authorship, and identifying and handling conflicts of interest and scientific misconduct (most of these isseus encompass the roles of both the researcher and the institution).
Each 2 hour session will involve in depth small group discussions of relevant cases with faculty. This class or the equivalent is required of all students and postdoctoral fellows seeking federal training grant support; most campus graduate programs now also require such a course. Postdoctoral fellows, and students not needing the credit, may sign up for the course informally, but will still be expected to participate fully (and receive a letter of course completion). Grading will be based on group participation and required leadership of at least one group discussion. Anyone who fails to do so will not meet training grant or program requirements.
